The Hampshire Township Park District is aware of and monitoring the developing public health issue of COVID-19 (or coronavirus). The health and safety of our community is an absolute priority.
On March 12, 2020, Illinois Governor Pritzker prohibited gatherings in Illinois of 1,000 or more and recommended against gatherings of 250 or more. On March 16, 2020, the Governor prohibited public and private gatherings of 50 or more individuals in the same room or space at the same time, and the White House is recommending against gatherings of more than 10 people. We will be following those requirements and recommendations. We have cancelled programs and closed facilities except for essential staff and services through March 27th, though we all recognize this is a rapidly evolving situation and one where we are going to use discretion as needed to respond to the current information and recommendations.
The Hampshire Township Park District is focusing on timely and regular cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces and equipment at facilities, as well as working to take additional measures as needed. In addition, staff have been and will continue to be educated on the importance of hand-washing and hygiene, as well as staying home if sick in the event they are essential staff still at the facilities. Finally, Hampshire Township Park District will use reasonable steps to keep its employees and patrons timely informed of key developments.
