Preschool education (2 years of age to Pre-Kindergarten) prepares your child both academically and socially for children's growth and development. By offering a wide variety of opportunities for children between 2 and 5 years old, children learn through a program that will nurture their growing minds and bodies through age-appropriate developmental activities. Teachers work one-on-one and in small groups with your child, as well as in large groups to develop their social and self-help skills. Areas of education include science and math (STEAM), blocks, art, writing, small and large motor activities.  Learning opportunities are provided as children can explore on their own or with a group of friends. Children are prepared to transition to the D300 curriculum and learning environment in Kindergarten.

Little People Playtime offers qualified staff and age appropriate curriculum with a variety of scheduling options for parents. Each age level's staff, classroom equipment, and class ratio is DCFS approved.

Continuing with the growth and development of the children at Little People Playtime, Day Care both before and after preschool classes is an option for families. Spaces fill quickly. Interested families are asked to make a commitment at the time of registration to secure a place in the Day Care program.

Little Learner 2019-2020

Twos and Early Threes

These are transition programs as children begin separating from parents to join a new group of friends their own age.  Independence is developed throughout the year as self-help skills are practiced such as getting coats, hats, etc. on and off and zipped; finding the correct cubby with their name on it; listening to a story; following one-step directions; participating in music activities; enjoying the outdoors on sunny days.  Crayons, markers, paint are introduced as well as many other age-appropriate activities.  Parents are encouraged to begin Potty training at home with reaching the goal of achievement by January, 2020 for the TEAL CLASS.  Staff asks children not potty trained to wear pull-ups so that assistance may be given during the class if necessary. A weekly newsletter is prepared and sent electronically to keep parents informed of the week's activities. Staff prepares a book of photos and representative work as a memory of the year. A small snack is served each class. Day Care may be available if requested at the time of registration.

Three and Early Fours 2019-2020

Children must be three years on or before September 1, 2019 and potty trained.  Some assistance is offered in the bathroom if necessary.  These programs offer plenty of socialization time both indoors and outside in the beautiful Seyller Park in order to support new friendships and encourage playing together.  Academic curriculum teaches and/or reinforces the following: alphabet letter recognition, colors, shapes, and their name in print.  A variety of music activities help to develop balance, and coordination. Paints, playdough, glue, and a variety of media help in aiding self-expression. A weekly electronic newsletter keeps parents informed of themes, and activities.  A Book of Memories, photos, and representative monthly work is compiled for each child during the year.  A small snack is provided daily. Day Care may be available before and after class if requested at the time of registration.
